Detroit Harbor Terminals, Detroit
Down in south Detroit There is a very underrated urbex spot, in fact it is a neat 10-floor warehouse on the river. A massive painted on the sign on the side reads "Boblo Island" This building was on my list, so I checked it out on my urbex trip in Detroit.
Here is some razor wire, to slice anyone trying to enter through these areas. I'm sure setting traps like this is illegal, some time ago a man was shot in the leg while going into a house that was presumably abandoned, which is why creating unavoidable & painful obstacles is illegal.
So basically if I turned 180 from the image above and walked through a hallway, I'd end up on the bottom floor of the cold storage. This space was one of my favorites, straight from a horror movie.
The big wall on the left are the cold storage rooms. This space might've been 15 feet tall?
Here is our famous sign on the cold storage, which may or may not have been re-painted with blue to keep prosperity. I think those windows along the side could be a stairwell.
This is the operating room of the huge facility, utilizing old ammonia-cooling pumps and boilers, color coded to their respective pipes. Some metal may have been taken from here.
As I made my way to the upper floors, instead of going through the warehouse I started climbing the office area's staircase, which almost consistently changed. The 4th floor was entirely burnt out.
The upper floors had thinner pillars, as there would be less building to support near the roof. The graffiti also lightens the further you go.
Two countries seen through the window of the elevator motor room.
