Fisher Body Plant 21, Detroit
So I finally decided to throw on my boots and go to the Fisher Body Plant, one of the most famous car factories. It made car bodies as the title suggests, and earlier, wagons.
In 2015 it caught fire and one of the elevator shafts collapsed on the building.
The building was easily accessible compared to other places, it had a door neighboring the sidewalk, which lead me into the very-wet first floor.
These are some industrial rubber flaps. I recently found out they are called strip doors, these doors always make a building 2 times as 'industrial'.
This is actually the second floor, which was partly falling down like a ramp, with some nifty ropes left for climbing
The teal windows' effect added to the atmosphere within the building, I brought a shard of the glass home.
This was an elevator shaft, it devastated the bottom 2 floors of building in a fire after coming away from the building.
Neat wall art of a car body in the carnage
Many floors were pretty empty, some floors had more interesting features than others.
I assume some scrappers cut the metal bits holding this and it collapsed, but they couldn't haul it away due to the size.
I think these were some of the biggest vents I've ever seen, the kind of vent you can crawl in.
Many people have stood here to take this same photogenic picture. It is a famous spot especially with the conveyer line. creating that curve.
