Missant Trucking, Hamtramck

 In Hamtramck, near Factory Zero and the detention center and recycling center, is a medium sized abandoned foundry building in a triangular nook. The entire area where the old roads were is fenced off today, but you can easily get in. Inmates can shout through the windows too, making it a bit different. This building is called the Missant Trucking Company, but was called Swedish Crucible Steel Co. before it switched hands.


The first room you can get in is completely soaked, probably due to some different roofing that doesn't last as long as the other building space.


Factories neatly arrange pipes and conduits for organization.


I have a feeling this pool had to do with a sort of machine. Today it is an uncomfortable shade of green.



If this used to be a forge, I'm sure this space was for the furnaces.


A popular product of now old and defunct Northern Crane Co of Detroit was the gantry crane.



In 2018 I assume some crew went through here and took down a large piece that covered this area, after a fire blazed in the building and took out some interesting features.



Electrical junk in the worst lit room I've seen. The light was too dark and too light.


The pipes and other important things would've been in this area; overhead from east to west.


The second floor was a bit dangerous and odd, it had an office and bathroom atleast.


The stairs lead up even further to a small section of roof, here you can see where I was meandering earlier.



I assume there is a tank of something in there and those square pipes used to transport whatever it is to some place.


Here is the more modern saw tooth building, built for Missant Trucking, or maybe some other company earlier on.


The newer saw tooth building was completely inaccessible, I didn't want to cut myself on the glass either.

       At 520 Mechanic St. is a building that is over 100 years old, the structure was constructed for a company called SM Isbell Seed. Isbell's Seeds was a grain/seed/bean refining business that was located in that city.  This building is very noticeable due to its odd-shaped roofs and fiberglass windows, and recently it's weight in graffiti, but this post is not about that structure. It is about Michner Plating, the ones who expanded the site. W.H. Anderson Tool & Supply Co. Warehouse, Detroit

The Rivertown-Warehouse District is full of old buildings. Many of the hundreds of brick factories from its era have been demolished years ago. This was one of the old companies that used to operate in the area, once a quite large company, yet now defunct. The exterior was obviously in very bad condition, anybody could just walk in, it seems. It had been like this for years now too. The street had a my undeniably favorite view of the Renaissance center. The warehouse seems to blend in so well with the rest of the buildings in this developed area, that it was often overlooked. The main warehouse room was full of pretty nice furniture, perfect place for any homeless person on the streets; and it also had these weird Tibetan prayer flags put up These are some interesting steel boxes, made for stacking. Peerless Cement, Detroit

  Peerless cement was an aggregate cement manufacturing company, this was the Detroit location. Sometime in the 2010's a large portion of buildings, the smokestack and the rotating pipes were demolished for space. It was a hot summer day, we had to walk about 8 minutes to this old cement plant, in that heat. That's the DWSD water treatment plant, they were incinerating scum and such today, giving off a stench of trash and synthetic waste. Overall not a fun walk.
